We at Bubblin are stoked to be initiating a new 1st Saturdays residency within the intimate and friendly confines of The Rose Bar AND to be joining the excellent line up of Saturday night monthlies they have curated that exclusively feature quality house and techno sounds. Huge props to The Rose Bar for dedicating precious prime time to these sounds.

For the first edition, we’ve enlisted two of the PNW’s rising stars – Jason Burns & Flarelight, who each offer excellent takes on garage, house, and r&b styles.

New Tactic Tracks!

Posted in Ben Tactic, Brent Tactic, Bubblin, Moombahton, remix, Tactic, Think 2wice on September 21, 2011 by bentactic

Couple new tracks from the Tactic camp to share with everyone.

First up is an original track Brent and I finished a couple weeks ago called ‘Grindin On You’.  I’ve been calling it slo-mo garage, but if you are getting deep into some moombahsoul or slower house it should fit in pretty well. We are actually working on an EP of tunes in this vein, so keep any eye out this fall for the release.

Tactic – Grindin On You

Next up are a couple dancehall/bashment joints from yours truly. She’s Hot is a more vibed out summer jam and the Aidonia edit is a straight dancehall club banger. Enjoy!

Ben Tactic – Supremo EP

I have been a big fan of moombahton since its inception just over a year ago, and I am really proud to drop my first original moombahton EP.   For those who have been living under a rock the past 18 months, moombahton is a mid-tempo style of dance music that was invented by Dave Nada, who totally wrecked shop at Bubblin back in December.  The origins of it have been talked about quite a bit, so if you want to read more about moombahton or Dave Nada check out this interview with Dave over at the Fader. Essentially, its all the best elements of reggaeton, dancehall, cumbia and Dutch house wrapped up in one style.

The title track on the EP, Supremo, flips a sax sample into a kind of big room latin b-boy vibe.   I’ve been getting really great reactions from this track since I finished it.  The b-side, which is actually my favorite, is called Coroa de Ouro which translates into Crown of Gold.  Not really too sure what the sample actually is, but it sounds like some sort of Brazilan kids choir.  Both tracks are available for free download through the soundcloud link below, but they are also for sale at Juno Download and Amazon if you feel like paying for them. Enjoy!

Remembering Michael – Rock With You (Potions Edit)

From the homie Brent Tactic @ Think 2wice:

As most everyone in the music world knows, June 25, 2009 we lost the most influential and iconic music entertainment figure of our generation. And now as we arrive on the first anniversary of his passing, the newest edition to the Think 2wice Records, Potions, has touched up a true Michael Jackson classic, Rock With You, into a brilliant funky discofied french house influenced edit that djs and music fans of all shapes and sizes can share and enjoy.

Norrit – Now Jack Swung EP – THINK007

Posted in Ben Tactic, Norrit, Think 2wice on March 12, 2010 by bentactic

My production/dj partner, Brent Tactic and I run a digital label called Think 2wice. One of the main reasons we started the label was because our good friend Iggy aka Norrit was sitting on a bunch of amazing songs and we wanted to help get them out there. For our seventh release Norrit is back with the Now Jack Swung EP. Its RnB inflected, sample laden dance music with a ton of soul.

On remix duty we brought in three of our favorite producers. KC ex-pat Chrissy Murderbot juked out Trippin Around in a true Southside Chicago fashion. San Francisco producer Salva, who previously released an EP with us under his Phosho moniker, went super hard with his remix of Nobody Baby. To me, it sounds like what might happen if Joker and Starkey started collaborating. 100% face melter. Rounding out the remixes is rising UK Funky star Doc Daneeka. He offered up two different versions of Nobody Baby, both with thick drums and even thicker vibes. Biggups to Doc, his new EP coming out on Ramp Recordings is bananas.

As a bonus here is 192 of Nobody Baby

You can listen to and purchase the rest of the EP from Beatport, Itunes, Junodownload and Amazon
